About Me

Welcome to Untamed Outdoors! I’m Wes, and I’m glad you’re here.

If you’re looking for slick, over-produced videos or fancy, high-dollar digital fluff, you won’t find it here. I’m just an everyday guy who loves the Lord, cares about the outdoor community, and has spent a lifetime learning the patterns of the woods and waters.

Born in the Arkansas Woods

I grew up in a family that lived and breathed the outdoors. Back when deer season was only two weeks long here in Arkansas, my world revolved around November. I spent every single Thanksgiving—and every single birthday on November 26th—living out of a camper deep in the Arkansas hunting woods. Back then, my favorite gifts each year were simple: a box of shells and a new pair of boots.

While we hunted just about everything, my earliest and deepest loves were catching bream and hunting squirrels. To me, it was the most exciting thing in the world. Bream fishing and squirrel hunting became the gateway to every other outdoor adventure I’ve ever been on. It was on those quiet creeks and hardwood ridges that I truly learned how to read the water and understand the lay of the land.

Faith, Fellowship, and the “One-Man Crew”

By day, I work full-time as a Natural Resource Manager, taking care of the land God blessed us with. I also have the privilege of serving as the Pastor of Whispering Pines Cowboy Church. For those who might not know what a cowboy church is, we are associated with the Southern Baptists, and we use western culture as a tool to bring folks together and share the life-changing faith we have in Jesus Christ.

When it comes to Untamed Outdoors, I am a true one-man crew. I film, edit, post, and write every single thing you see myself. Honestly, sitting down to edit a video or write an article feels like a getaway for me.

When I posted my very first video and started seeing comments roll in from fellow woodsmen and anglers, I was instantly hooked. I love the ability to connect deeply with other people who share the same passions I do.

Because the hunting and fishing community feels so close to my heart, my greatest prayer for each and every person who watches my videos or reads my articles is that they come to know Jesus Christ as Lord. As a follower of Jesus, I want the people I care about to experience the exact same peace that I have with Him—knowing that we are forgiven by God and will one day step into eternity together.

My Golden Rule for the Outdoors

If I could hand down just one timeless piece of advice to the next generation of outdoorsmen, it’s this: Don’t let other people tell you what you should enjoy, and don’t let them tell you that you’re doing it wrong.

Because trust me, they will try!

Whether you’re hauling a mess of bluegill to the frying pan using an ultra-light spinning rod, sitting on a bucket with a cane pole, or tracking a deer the old-school way, do it because you love it.

Thanks for stopping by the site and being a part of the Untamed Outdoors family. Pull up a chair, read a few articles, and I’ll see you out on the water.
